Woven Brick House

The task here entailed the extension of an existing house to meet the changing needs of an established family. A small unused porch was converted into a sun room using large windows while the upper floor balcony was covered by a conservatory lean to tile roof and enclosed only by a string of windows.
The entire facade of the house too was modified to create a brick clad British or Irish style home covering it's grey straight line Modernist facade that was characteristic of a large number of houses built in the 1970s and 80s. Facade patterns were created using brick tiles on the surface of two shades, the regular burnt red and the more yellowish fire clay brick. The doors and windows were accentuated using the turned or kharanja brick creating a subtle differentiation in the same surface treatment.
